Highland Croft Painting

FInal Image

I drew this just to try and get another video process up on youtube, so the subject matter turned out quite simple, its a small croft somewhere that looks like the scottish highlands.

But this was still fun to do, I will try and get another video up and running soon.
Sorry for the poor compression also.

Playing with a Cintiq

Click for large image

Iv been getting to play around with a Wacom Cintiq (an older one), feels really nice but at the same time after using a regular tablet for a few years it takes some getting used too.

So heres the fist thing I doodled out whilst using it, sort of Giger - esque textures going on with some large easter island style heads. You can never have too many head statues ;)

This was created for an upcoming exhibition in the city of Aberdeen with the theme of 'portals'. That was all I had to go on so here is the result.

I drew inspiration from Hindu gods chucked it into sea scape.

As always, hope you enjoy it..

The Owlcat

Owlcat

Mr Frog
Over the past few days iv been working on an Owlcat as requested by a friend. I decided to make it a chase scene between the creature and a frog in a swampy environment.

In my opinion the frog ended up the coolest part of the piece. Heres a close up of its face..

Enjoy!

Last Stand

This piece is sort of inspired by the Scottish highlands and a little bit of Scottish history. But the premise of this piece is open to interpretation really.

It was a lot of fun making this, especially the mountains and the creating movement in the foreground.

Heres a break down of the process.

Ancient Greek Town

So heres a small town inspired by ancient Greek architecture.

Final

Heres the stages before hand. I start by roughing out the shapes and the composition in black and white. Working in black and white really helps figure out your values before adding colour. I also really enjoy figuring out the lighting of a scene, using it to draw attention to certain areas.

Stage 1

Stage 2

After black and white ill overlay some colours on top. Best to get this done sooner rather than later so it looks more natural. From this stage on it shall be mostly the detailing stage. In the final the canvas was sized was increased to give the river along the bottom more breathing room.
